A David Season

A David Season – 5 April 2022

I have been asking the LORD to tell me what season it is that we are entering as I have felt strongly that we are entering a new season.  I didn’t want to just say – ‘new season’ but wanted more specifics than that.  This morning I felt I heard the LORD say – we are entering into a “David Season.”  We are entering into a season of fearlessness, a season where we will smite the giants.  We are going to take the sword from the enemy and remove his head with it!!

1 Sam 17:51 says this; “David ran and stood over him.  He took hold of the Philistine’s sword and drew it from the sheath.  After he killed him, he cut off his head with the sword.  When the Philistines saw that their hero was dead, they turned and ran.”

How like the enemy to not have even drawn his sword!  How arrogant and self-assured.  Isn’t this so like the devil to overplay his hand and to be so conceited as to think he will win.  But he has been found out and now we will chop off his head with his own weapon!  We are going into a season of trampling on snakes, a season where we will indeed cut off the head of the snake.  Cutting off the head of a snake is often used as a military application where you find the leader of the army that is warring against you, and you remove them first.  This make it easy to deal with the rest of the enemy, and just like in the scripture when the Philistines saw their leader was dead, they turned and ran!

This is a season of fearlessness, taking the risks others are too scared to take, a season of setting the people free!  God had already equipped David throughout his life, and He has equipped you.  You may not think you have much, but you have a sling and 5 small stones and in your heart you are a giant killer!

I believe this is also a season of longing.  A season of longing for the presence of the LORD.  A season of longing for the Holy Spirit to share His heart with you, a season of longing for a Word from the Father’s lips.  Acts 13:22; “And when He had removed him, He raised up for them David as king, to whom also He gave testimony and said, “I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after My own heart, who will do all my will.”  David was a man whose passion for the Great I Am was unparalleled, No, not a perfect man, but one who longed for Yahweh.  I believe this is a secret place season, of panting and thirsting for the LORD.  A season of getting away with God, letting Him draw close to you.  Stir up the passion within you, fan the flames of first love, hunger and thirst for righteousness, be found standing on His Word.

This David season is a season of instant obedience. Not delayed obedience, not a mumbled – ‘oh I’ll think about it, or I’ll pray about it’ obedience.  Instant obedience.  When you hear His Word – Go!  Run!  Do!  Execute! Obey!  Doors are opening, chess pieces are moving, move while the doors are open.  David was – “a man after My own heart, who will do all my will.”  All my will.  How do we miss the second part?!  The word for will in the Greek means commands, precepts, inclinations and the purpose of God to bless mankind through Christ.  God’s will is to bless mankind through Christ.  How can we not obey His will?  You will be blessed when you do His will, when you are obedient.

Finally this is a season of declaring His greatness.  Sometimes, I confess, I pray words in my head as I don’t want the enemy to hear them or act on them.  How do I not understand the Greatness of my God?  Why am I not convinced of His incredible power and authority?  Time and time again, throughout the Psalms, David declares the greatness of His God.  He is The Great I Am, he is more than wonderful or beautiful, He is GREAT.  Greater than.  He is the King of kings and LORD of lords.  Mountains melt like wax before Him.  He is greater than anything the enemy can throw at you. I believe this is a season where we need to declare the greatness of our God.  Declare it at every opportunity without fear.  Shout it from the rooftops.  Let’s speak it out as David did, “OUR GOD IS GREAT!”

A David Season, a season of kings, of royalty and blessing.  A season of longing for the very heart of God, of bowing to His will, of fearlessness and smiting giants!  A season of declaring His Greatness!

Hi - I'm Claire. I am married to the man of my dreams and have two of the most wonderful children anyone could ever hope to have. In fact my life is totally blessed. I fell in love with Jesus when I was very young and have been on an incredible journey with Him ever since. Some of it has been very tough and I find the very tough times were when I wasn't walking with Him or paying close attention to what He was saying! Now I find myself more in love with my Father than ever before - knowing that my journey is not even close to over! My prayer is that this blog will inspire you and perhaps even persuade you to look for the Lover of Your Soul and grow closer to Your Abba Father just like I did.
